116 – The Prepositional case (masculine singular nouns)

Today let’s learn to form the Russian Prepositional case with masculine singular nouns.

Most masculine nouns in the Prepositional end in е (just add it to the end of the noun or replace the ь with е).

дом – в до́ме, о до́ме (house)
стол – в столе́, о столе́ (table)
спектакль – на спекта́кле, о спекта́кле (performance)

Some nouns after the prepositions в and на take the ending у:

берег – на берегу́, о бе́реге (bank)
ряд – в ряду́, о ря́де (row)
мост – на мосту́, о мосте́ (bridge)
шкаф – в шкафу́, о шка́фе (cupboard)
